Review - A Risk Worth Taking

When 22-year-old Summer Stafford’s parents split halfway through her senior year at college, Summer’s world is rocked. Everything she thought she knew—heck, everything she thought she wanted for her own life—feels like a lie. The truth is love is a risk. And the true kind, the kind that lasts, might even be a fairy tale.

Reeling from the divorce, Summer derails her own future by breaking up with her parent-approved boyfriend and giving up her lifelong plans for a big-city career. She moves back home, business degree in hand. Dad needs her to fill the gaps her mother left behind; Summer needs to find who she is outside of the cookie-cutter life that failed so miserably for her parents.

Ford O’Neal’s future involves one person: himself. He doesn’t have a permanent address and he definitely doesn’t commit. To a place or a person. Raised by hippies, he plans just far enough ahead to secure his next stop, this one landing him at a work-study program at Heritage Plantation where he can grow his own herbal and medicinal creations.

Summer is gorgeous and smart and fun to be with, the perfect way to pass five months. It won’t be love—Ford’s got too many things to accomplish, too many places to go, before he settles down. Yet Summer pulls him in, challenging him to rethink his own philosophy.

When Ford’s five months are up, each of them must decide if love is really worth the risk

Ford and Summer's character are very lovable, they have a unique love story and principles in life.
Summer is very confident, organized and strong personality while Ford is carefree, stubborn sometimes but he knows what he wants in life. They are perfect with each other.

The story was a realistic that really happened to ordinary people.Well written story as well.
Beautiful quotes that begins each chapter. I love the steamy scenes and very cheesy conversation between Ford and Summer.

Author justifies each characters with a twist.I hope Heather will write Casey's story too. After reading the story, we will realize that we need to give up our dreams in the name of love.

Great Novel to read. Heather is one of my new favorite author.....must read story.

This is a quick read, great story line, beautiful heroine. I like Miranda's character, she is so smart, witty and very talented person, while Troy, though he is so popular he is very honest and loyal to Miranda. I love how the author described the heroine's feeling for each other. This story makes me cry also, the story was very light but it really touches my heart.

There's a moral lesson on the story on how to deal with our past so that we can move on and have a new life.

Kudos to the author, I will strongly recommend this book to all book lovers out there,it's worth reading promise.

Book Blitz - Intercepting Love

Book & Author Details:

Intercepting Love by L.P. Dover
(Second Chances #5)
Publication date: May 26th 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romantic Suspense

Synopsis:
Both have what she wants … but only one has what she needs.

Working with professional athletes and helping them recover from their injuries has always been Kate Townsend’s dream, but after an accident left her scarred and heartbroken years ago she refuses to let what happened in her past happen again. Staying focused is the key, as well as not letting her feelings interfere with her job … no matter the circumstances. All of that is easier said than done when not only one, but two men crave her healing touch, igniting every single desire she’s denied herself for so long.

Cooper Davis, NFL’s star quarterback and most eligible bachelor, packs up and leaves his home to move across the states to the East Coast after an injury results in the embarrassing trade to another team. Bitter from the pain, he deals with his problems through drugs and alcohol—almost ruining his football career—until he meets the one woman who makes him want to feel; the same woman who refuses to give up on him no matter how many times he screws up. He has to have her, and he’s not going to stop until he makes her his. Especially, now that someone else threatens to take her away.

Motocross champion and local bad boy Luke Collins never takes no for an answer. For the past four months he’s used his charms to get what he wants, and now he’s so close to getting the girl of his dreams … if she’ll give in just once. One time is all he needs, and he’s never been known to fail, but he’s also never had to fight for a woman’s affections. Only one man will win their way into Kate’s heart, but which one will intercept the other and take what they want? Which one will she choose?

Excerpt :

Teaser 1: We pulled into the parking lot of the practice field and I shut off my car, the tension in the air crackling like fire. When I turned to look at her, it was like her stormy gray gaze could see right through me. There were a shit ton of things I wanted, but nothing as much as leaning forward to kiss those lips of hers.
With her breaths coming fast and low, she licked her dry lips and shook her head. “Cooper, we can’t.”
Bending over the center console, I glanced down at her lips and murmured low, “Yes we can, Kate, and I’m going to make sure we do.”

Teaser 2: Taking my elbow, Cooper guided me to his car and opened the door.  “I’m not worried about your brother, Kate. I’m not going to do anything to you unless you ask me to.”
“Like what?” I asked coyly.
Shielded from view by the car door, Cooper leaned in and brought his lips closer to mine, opening them slightly. I couldn’t move, but then again … I didn’t want to. Instead of kissing me, he murmured across my lips, “I’m sure you’ll figure that out when the time comes. If you want me to kiss you, I’m not going to do it until you place your soft lips on mine first. If you want me to touch you, I’m not going to unless you beg me for it. It’s all on you now, love.”

Teaser 3: “In your eyes I see exactly what I want. You’re not here with me because of my money or because of what I do. You actually see the people you’re around and the goodness inside of them. That is what gives me hope.”
“Hope for what?” I asked breathlessly, mesmerized.
He brushed my hair away from my face and smoothed his thumb along my jaw. “Hope that one day you will see in my eyes what I see in yours. There’s a craving deep inside of you that I can see each time I touch you. It burns brighter every single time. I’ve never seen that with anyone, and that is how I know I have a chance.”

Teaser 4: “You don’t have to worry about him making the moves on me, Luke. He said he wouldn’t touch me unless I asked him to. I think we’re both safe.”
Placing his hands against the wall, Luke trapped me in and murmured in my ear, “Hmm … he’s better than I thought. You know he’s just playing games with you, right?”
“Everyone plays games in their own way, Luke. Even you do, but it’s not going to change anything,” I told him.
“Good,” he murmured huskily. “Although, I’d have to say that’s where me and him differ.” He trailed his finger down my cheek and past my neck to my collarbone. “I’d be afraid you would never ask me. That’s why I have to take what I want until you tell me no.”

Teaser 5: Finally, Cooper gazed up at me, his eyes red and pained. “Please tell me you forgive me for this, Kate. You know I never wanted to hurt you.”
“I know, and there’s nothing to forgive,” I whispered, tears falling down my cheeks. “I’m so proud of you for pushing through it. I know it wasn’t easy.”
Nodding quickly, he got to his feet and pulled me over to my bed, holding my hands gently in his. With his weary gaze on my wrists, he thumbed the bruises gently and murmured, “Do you want to know why I don’t ever want to hurt you? Why it kills me that it was my hands that did this to you?”
“Why?” I whispered, holding my breath.

Sighing heavily, he lifted his gaze and placed both hands on my cheeks, wiping away my tears. “It’s because I love you, Kate, and people aren’t supposed to hurt the ones they love. The last thing I want is for you to hate me for what I did.”

FORWARD
A SWEET LIFE

I have no memories of my paternal grandmother.  My best guess is that I was barely four years old when she died.  But, I like to think I inherited my love of knitting from her.  My older cousins tell the story of sitting in a semi-circle in front of her rocking chair and watching her crochet.  Her fingers moved at a frantic speed as she rocked back and forth.  The amazing part is that she was sound asleep and snoring!
My father, who was the youngest boy, was basically raised by his oldest sister, my aunt Betty, because my grandmother was diabetic.  She was often tired and sickly, spending the majority of her time in bed.
Another memory my cousins have shared with me is of our grandmother boiling her hypodermic needles because she was insulin dependent.  My father and three of my uncles were also diabetic and, by the end of their lives, insulin-dependent as well.  And now several of my cousins are affected by the disease.
Like my cousins, for the last twenty-five years I've been a Type 2 diet-controlled diabetic.
Diabetes is a life-changing disease.  It's estimated that 25.8 million children and adults in the United States are diabetic.  That's 8.3% of the population.  My guess is that we all know someone who is diabetic.
When Brenda Novak's youngest son, Thad, was diagnosed, she went on a one-woman mission to do whatever was necessary to fund research for a cure to this horrible disease.  If you've ever met Brenda you know she is passionate about making a difference.  This is her tenth year holding an auction to raise money for this cause and to date her efforts have resulted in more than $2 million dollars toward research for a cure.
The book you've purchased will go toward making the dream of a world free of diabetes a reality.  Each one of the authors on this long list of contributors has given of their talent and themselves to aid in this mission.  You're about to read some of the biggest names in the field of romance.
Three of these talented authors, Susan Wiggs, Barbara Freethy and Rachel Van Dyken, have scored #1 placements on the New York Times best seller lists.  Now that's impressive.  The remaining eleven are all well established authors with booming careers.  In other words, you are in for a real treat.
And really, isn't this the best of all worlds?  Not only is this an enjoyable read but at the same time your purchase is contributing to a worthy cause.  You can't ask for a better win/win situation.
It's been my honor to write the forward.  Keep at it, Brenda.  Not only are you one amazing author, you're a woman with passion and heart.

          Now enjoy.
          With warmest wishes,
          Debbie Macomber

~*~EXCERPT~*~

Brooklyn awoke to a mosquito buzzing in her ear. Swatting it away, she realized she was lying on the damp forest floor.
Sitting up, her eyes searched for signs of Ryder. Instead, they landed upon the lone shoe she had lost while fleeing Grishma. She crawled over and cradled it in her hands.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. I love you. Those were Ryder’s final words. Did all of this really just happen or was it all a dream? Hoping that she had just hit her head and fallen unconscious in the forest, she wiped the tears away and stood up.

Oh no! Sadness seeped through her body as she looked down at her Dratonian clothing. It wasn’t a dream. Her pants and shirt were still damp from the lake that she and Ryder had waded in to get to the moonbow. A knot formed in her stomach. I didn’t even have time to tell him that I love him… She looked around, desperately searching for something, anything to help her get back to Necoh. I need to get back to him!
